Mustard Seed

The stories of twelve minor characters do not feature a central protagonist throughout the book, but rather focus on the lives of those who exist alongside heroes and celebrities. The protagonist of "The Song of Chang'an" is Lu Liu'er, a maidservant of Yang Guifei. In "The Song of the Frontier," the main character is Niu Dali, a brother who fought alongside Hua Mulan in the military camp. In "The Assassin's Journey," the protagonist is Huang Gou'er, who attempted to assassinate Jing Ke to avenge his sister. Under the brilliance of great figures, the lives of minor characters also encompass many joys and sorrows, loves and hatreds.
